The housing stock
Old Towne, and the tracts around it
Orange incorporated in 1888. Its center, Old Towne, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and is the largest National Register district in California, with houses from the 1880s to the 1940s around the Plaza.
Past Old Towne, most of the city is post-war tract housing and later hillside neighborhoods to the east. The kitchens in those houses were built for a different way of cooking, which is why the work is usually a full rebuild: new cabinets, new counters and often a wall opened.
What we do here
The jobs we take in Orange
- Kitchen remodeling in Orange. Cabinets, counters, backsplash and layout changes. The kitchens above are in the city.

- Whole-home remodeling. Several rooms planned and built as one job.
- Repairs. One wall, one closet, one fix. No job is too small.
Permits and license
Who pulls the permit
- The city reviews it. A remodel in Orange that moves plumbing, electrical or a wall needs a building permit from the city. We say at the estimate if your job needs one, and we pull it.
- Old Towne has its own rules. Exterior changes to a house in the Old Towne historic district also go through the city’s design review, under its Old Towne design standards. Interior work like a kitchen follows the normal permit path. We tell you at the estimate which one applies.
- The license is ours to hold. New Horizon Repair Services holds California CSLB License #1151716, Class B General Building. You can look it up on the CSLB site before you sign anything, and you should.
- The scope is written before work starts. You get the estimate in writing, and work starts when you approve it.
